ACADEMIC MINISTRY PARTNERS
Metropolitan Theological Seminary is an independent academic ministry established by the Progressive Episcopal Diocese of the South to provide academic studies and ministry development opportunities for ordinands of the Progressive Episcopal Church. Ordinands study academic disciplines and explore diverse paths of spiritual development in preparation for service in the communities of the Progressive Episcopal Church as licensed ministers, deacons and priests. Continuing and higher educational programs are also available for those already serving in the ordained ministry of the Progressive Episcopal Church.
Metropolitan Theological Seminary also provides a diverse array of research opportunities designed to serve the communities of the Progressive Episcopal Church and the progressive Christian movement in general.
In addition to serving the communities of the Progressive Episcopal Church, Metropolitan Theological Seminary maintains official academic ministry relationships with other faith communities known as Academic Ministry Partners (AMPs). Metropolitan Theological Seminary provides ministry development, continuing education and higher academic study programs for AMP ministers and candidates for ordination.
